Choose Whom You Will Serve by CE Director Angela Audiss
September 27, 2017

God created us with the freedom to choose knowing full well we would fall into disobedience. Case in point, Genesis Chapter 3. Eve chose to eat the fruit; nobody forced her. I recently read where we make an average of 35,000 choices a day. A DAY!! Most of those choices are likely made mindlessly. Can you think of some choices you have already made? Should I read the newsletter now or later? How about right now? There’s one!

Pastor Jessica has been sharing our mission statement to Love God, Love Others, and Serve the World.  Joshua 24:14-15 says, “Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, …..”. (Emphasis is mine.) I can’t help but note that it says, “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you,”. (Again, emphasis is mine.) YOU play the largest roll in your faithfulness to serve the LORD. Not your pastor, youth pastor, small group leader or Christian friends. Eve chose to disobey. The serpent didn’t make that choice for her. We choose to spend time in God’s word, pray, serve others and grow spiritually through small groups. We choose to be faithful or turn away. Our personal relationship with Jesus Christ is just that….personal. One choice, one commitment at a time we choose to what/whom we will be obedient. Let’s choose whom we will serve together. Choosing, one choice at a time, to be obedient to Christ.

All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had a need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.” Acts 2:44-45
