The Region ABGIRLS invites you to prepare items for their Silent Auction to be held at the ABW/ABGIRLS Conference at Cross Wind June 2-3. If you aren’t able to attend, but would like to send items, there will be folks attending who can deliver them. Handmade items are always a hit. So, if you knit or crochet, get those needles moving! Other items could include special mementos or useful items. The Committee is also asking for gently used gift bags. If you have any questions, contact Jane Smith.

The AB Women’s Ministries Summer Conference for the Central Region is June 2-3 at the Cross Wind Conference Center in Hesston, KS. The keynote speaker is Dr. Zina Jacque from Barrington Community Church near Chicago. Dr. Jacque has served on the staffs of multicultural, urban and suburban churches, both large and small. She has done extensive work in the areas of education, counseling, and support programs, and she has participated in many workshops, forums, and special religious programs. Her message is sure to be inspirational and enlightening. Something NEW about this year’s Conference is the addition of including girls of ALL ages who are part of AB GIRLS. Our own Meghan Cubbison, member of the National Leadership Team for AB GIRLS, will provide opportunities for those young ladies in attendance. Workshops offered for all in attendance will address topics such as depression, stress and healthy eating; creation of mug rugs, safety pin crafts and cards and a Bible Study on bad girls of the Bible. The ever popular bell choir and the Conference Choir will perform as well. Cost for girls wishing to attend is $50. Cost of the Conference, for women, is $100 for both days (includes lodging) or $50 for one day. Scholarships are available through H-A-M. Registration forms and info about the scholarships are available in the Church office. Contact Jane Smith if you have questions. Carpooling from Ottawa is planned.

AB GIRLS are for girls grades 3 through High School. We have lots of fun opportunities and uplifting experiences planned. Come join the fun and bring a friend!

 AB GIRLS Covenant
Remembering the words of Christ, who said
"I am the Light of the World,"
I promise to grow in Christ
to share my gifts of time and money, talent and prayer,
and to serve with others in God's world,
so that the Light of Life may shine through me.

What is AB GIRLS?
AB GIRLS is a ministry focused upon meeting the spiritual needs of girls as they move through the many changes their lives will take as they grow into adulthood. Why just girls?

Why just girls?

We all know that girls and boys are different and, at times, have very different needs. We also know that sometimes youth are less inclined to speak up in mixed crowds, and often hold back from sharing their true feelings around boys and men. AB GIRLS ministry is designed to complement the Christian Education and youth ministry programs in a congregation. AB GIRLS is a way for girls to have the opportunity to deal with tough questions honestly, to build close relationships with each other, and to build a program that will meet their particular needs as growing women of faith.

How is AB GIRLS organized?
Your ministry with girls may be organized any way that fits your situation best. AB Women’s Ministries produces resources for girls in three age ranges:
     Girls of Joy (ages 8-11, grades 3-5);
     Girls of Faith (ages 12-14, grades 6-8); and
     Young Women of Hope (ages 15-18, grades 9-12).
Most resources can be easily adapted for a variety of age ranges.
