Reflectinz Code of Conduct

Celebrate Valentine’s Day this year with that special someone in your life. Whether it’s a spouse or someone you enjoy spending time with, you can celebrate God’s love with them at an Italian Dinner Saturday, February 10th at First Baptist. It will be a ‘Come & Go’ event, sponsored by the Community Youth Group and the FBC Fellowship Committee, from 5:00 p.m. through 7:00 p.m. in Elliott Hall. Funds raised will go to support our youth at various activities, conferences and mission trips in 2018. Childcare will be provided. Kids will be fed as well. Please RSVP by Tuesday, February 6th (RSVP hearts are provided in this bulletin to place in the offering plate or call the Church office) for planning purposes. Cost of the meal: Free Will donation.

On Sunday evenings, First Baptist Youth continue to be a part ofthe Community Youth Group (CYG), an Ottawa Community Youth Group. Forty students attended the New Year’s Eve event.  The night was full of games, laughter, fellowship and capture the flag. As January progressed, we started a series called “NUA”.  This is a series found on RightNow Media leading students to explore and better understand what they believe. Following are some activities the Youth will experience:

February 2nd-3rd we will be taking 15 students to Planet Wisdom in Kansas City to explore the Holy Spirit; what it is and is not in their lives.  You can find more information about this event at

February 4th is Super Bowl Sunday and students will be given the opportunity to get together for fun and fellowship at the Ottawa Bible Church (1623 S Poplar) gymnasium.  Students need to bring friends and their favorite snack to share.  Event will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Empty Bowls is an event held at Ottawa High School February 9th from 5:00-700 p.m. to raise awareness about those who go without food. Money raised from this event will go to Hope House and ECKAN. CYG students will be collaborating with High School students to support their fellow peers in reaching those in need in our community.  For more information contact Angela Audiss.

February 10th CYG, in cooperation with the FBC Fellowship Committee, will host an Italian Valentine’s Dinner. Donations raised will support students attending mission trips, weekend conferences and other youth events.  The dinner is from 5:00-7:00 p.m. This will be a ‘Come and Go’ meal. Childcare will be provided.

Due to the interest of so many students and the challenge of communication, we have extended the sign-up date for Young Christian Weekend. Students interested in going to Silver Dollar City’s YCW need to have forms and fees turned in no later than February 11th.

Friday and Saturday,February 16-17, CYG leaders will be leading students through a 24 hour fast and service weekend.  We will meet at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 8:00 a.m. to kick off our morning with prayer before heading to Harvesters. When we return, we will serve our own community before completing our fast with a meal together.

The vision of Reflectionz Youth Group is to mentor and equip teens to develop a faith that exists outside of the church building; a walk with Christ that is dynamic, lived out, and shared beyond the church walls.  As with any group, whether it is Scouts, a sports team, a club at school or even a job, there are certain rules and expectations provided which are there to help make the group stronger. As a youth group, we want to set a positive example for others of what it means to be a member of the body of Christ, so we must also hold ourselves to certain expectations.  Here are some of the standards we will strive to live up to as members of “Reflectionz”:

Luke 9:23—“Then he said to them all: ‘If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.’”

Teens of the Reflectionz Youth Ministry seek to SERVE:

  • Submit to God (James 4:7-8)
  • Examine Your Heart (James 1:19-21)
  • Reach Out to Others (Matthew 25:31-40)
  • Value Others Above Yourself (Romans 12:10)
  • Exemplify Christ (1 John 2:3-6)

Therefore, we act in accordance with our faith and our vision.
